Saffron cultivation is of great social and economic importance, due to its role in valuing the field in production areas and the additional income it generates for rural residents. In a context of high global market demand, Morocco relies on its plant wealth, production and cost control and local skills. The Souss-Massa region and the Draa-Tafilalet region are considered the most prominent regions in the production of saffron in Morocco.
